4.jpgMost children find Halloween a thrilling time, but parents are often concerned about the number of sweets consumed. So, how can you cope with this tricky time of year while still ensuring your child has an enjoyable time? One strategy that might surprise you is allowing kid to eat as many sweets as they want on the night, before rationing it out at one or two pieces a day. Some parents find their children actually forget about their sweets after a couple of weeks. Another trick is to feed children dinner after trick-or-treating and before they have a chance to eat their stash. Giving them something relatively healthy but which is still a bit of a treat such as pizza will fill them up and distract them. If you do want to ration your child’s sweets, let them choose their favourites and discuss what to do with the rest, so they are part of the decision process.
