FISSURE SEALANTS
The deep grooves in the back molar teeth are called fissures and for young children can be very hard to clean properly, leading to the development of cavities.
Fissure sealants are applied to children’s back teeth to combat this as they provide extra protection against cavities and make them easier to clean.
Fissure sealant is a resin that’s used to fill the deep pits and fissures. It is a very simple procedure, only taking a few minutes to do each tooth and will last for several years.
To ensure the fissures are still in place as your child’s teeth develop it is important that you bring your child in to see Diverse Dental every six months.
